Discover Scuba Diving (PADI)
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program offers a brief introduction to scuba diving for individuals curious about exploring the underwater world. Under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional, participants learn basic scuba skills and experience breathing underwater in a controlled environment. This program is not a certification course but serves as an excellent opportunity to try scuba diving before committing to a full certification.
Prerequisites
- Minimum Age: 10 years old
- Swimming Skills: Participants should be comfortable in the water and possess basic swimming abilities.
- Health Requirements: Good physical health is essential. Participants may need to complete a medical questionnaire to ensure fitness for diving.  
What You’ll Learn
- How to use scuba equipment, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), and dive gauges.
- Basic safety guidelines and skills, such as breathing underwater, clearing a mask, recovering a regulator, and equalizing ear pressure.
- Underwater communication using hand signals.
- Understanding of the effects of water pressure and how to move efficiently underwater.
Course Structure
- Knowledge Development: Participants receive a briefing on scuba diving basics, equipment usage, and safety procedures.
- Confined Water Dive: In a pool or pool-like environment, participants practice basic scuba skills under the supervision of a PADI Professional.
- Optional Open Water Dive: After mastering confined water skills, participants may choose to undertake an open water dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet), exploring the underwater environment with their instructor.  
Duration
The entire experience typically lasts between 2 to 3 hours, making it a convenient option for those with limited time.

All necessary scuba equipment is provided by the dive shop, including:
- Mask and snorkel
- Fins
- Regulator
- BCD
- Scuba tank
- Weights and weight belt
Next Steps
If you enjoyed the Discover Scuba Diving experience and wish to pursue scuba diving further, you can enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver course. Skills acquired during the Discover Scuba Diving program may be credited towards the full certification if undertaken within a certain timeframe.
