The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program offers a brief introduction to scuba diving for individuals curious about exploring the underwater world. Under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional, participants learn basic scuba skills and experience breathing underwater in a controlled environment. This program is not a certification course but serves as an excellent opportunity to try scuba diving before committing to a full certification.

Prerequisites

• Minimum Age: 10 years old
• Swimming Skills: Participants should be comfortable in the water and possess basic swimming abilities.
• Health Requirements: Good physical health is essential. Participants may need to complete a medical questionnaire to ensure fitness for diving.  

What You’ll Learn

• How to use scuba equipment, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), and dive gauges.
• Basic safety guidelines and skills, such as breathing underwater, clearing a mask, recovering a regulator, and equalizing ear pressure.
• Underwater communication using hand signals.
• Understanding of the effects of water pressure and how to move efficiently underwater.

Course Structure

1. Knowledge Development: Participants receive a briefing on scuba diving basics, equipment usage, and safety procedures.
2. Confined Water Dive: In a pool or pool-like environment, participants practice basic scuba skills under the supervision of a PADI Professional.
3. Optional Open Water Dive: After mastering confined water skills, participants may choose to undertake an open water dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet), exploring the underwater environment with their instructor.  

Duration

The entire experience typically lasts between 2 to 3 hours, making it a convenient option for those with limited time.

All necessary scuba equipment is provided by the dive shop, including:

• Mask and snorkel
• Fins
• Regulator
• BCD
• Scuba tank
• Weights and weight belt
